Do you want to improve your health and lose weight?

 

Solihull’s Community Weight Management Team can support you to make changes to your everyday life that will help you improve your health, lose weight and keep it off. We are developing a range of services for both adults and children.
 

Services for adults:


  • Size Wise groups at local sports and community centres.  It is a 12 week programme including healthy eating advice and a weekly beginners exercise class.  To find out more or to book your place contact the weight management team on  angela.jesson@heartofengland.nhs.uk  telephone 0121 712 7781.

 

  • One to one appointments offered at a local GP surgery.  The dietitian can support you to make changes to your everyday life that will help you to lose weight and keep it off. If you have a GP in the North of Solihull you will also have access to a specialist team including a psychologist and physiotherapist. If you are interested in seeing the dietitian please discuss it with your GP or Practice Nurse who can refer you into the service.

 

  • Drop In sessions are open to anyone over the age of 18 who want information on losing weight or general healthy eating advice.  No referral or appointment is needed.  The Drop In sessions are held at:
  • You +, Chelmsley Wood – Every Monday between 3-5pm and Friday between 10am-12pm
  • The Swann Shop, Arran Way – Every Tuesday between 1-3.30pm
  • St Marys Church Hall, Hobs Meadow, Hobs Moat – Every Thursday between 1.30-3.30pm. An exercise session also runs between 2-3pm (£1 for first 6 weeks and £2.50 thereafter)

 




  • Make and Taste cooking skills courses for parents:
  1. One off taster sessions – Aims to improve awareness of food hygiene plus gain a better understanding of healthy food choices.  It is also an opportunity to taste a selection of quick and easy to make drinks and snacks.

  2. Make and Taste sessions – A set of 4 interactive workshops to develop practical skills to enable you to improve your children’s eating habits.  It also aims to increase your confidence in budgeting, preparing and cooking healthy meals for all the family.

Services for Children:

 

  • Living Well– 12 week group sessions for children and families keen to make lifestyle changes.  The programme includes a fun, interactive, healthy eating session run by a qualified trainer followed by a physical activity and games session run by a qualified community coach.  For further information about the course and how to book a place visit www.solihullactive.co.uk/livingwell or call 0121 704 8551.
  • Children Drop In Sessions – To provide continuing support or signposting for families and children under the age of 18.  The Drop in sessions are held on the last Saturday of every month between 12pm-2.30pm. No referral or appointment is required just Drop in to the You+ shop.  To check dates and times of the next session ring 0800 015 3265.
